Titans vs. Patriots

The Tennessee Titans stunned many when they overcame an 18 point halftime deficit to beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Wildcard Weekend. Marcus Mariota made huge plays in the second half, including catching a touchdown that he threw to himself. Derrick Henry was great, running for 156 yards, including some big first downs to ice the game late in the fourth quarter. The defense also deserves a ton of credit for shutting-out the Chiefs in the second half. Tennessee Titans beat Kansas City Chiefs last weekend in the Wild Card Round

Meanwhile, the New England Patriots had a first-round bye, but that didn’t stop them from being in the news. An ESPN article stated that there is a rift in the relationship between Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and Robert Kraft, something that all three adamantly denied. The Titans pulled off an epic rally last Saturday to upset the Chiefs in the Wild Card Round. Now they’ll have to defeat another favored opponent who knows a little something about monumental playoff comebacks — the New England Patriots. The two teams will meet on Saturday in the Divisional Round; kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on CBS (live stream).

Tennessee trailed 21-3 at halftime before snapping to life in the third quarter. Third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota had a modest performance through the air, but his will to win manifested itself on the ground, with important yard-churning blocks, and even as a receiver for his own batted pass as the Titans clawed back to devastate Kansas City. He’ll need to be even better on Saturday to topple a Patriot defense left with plenty to prove.

New England’s 2-2 start was defined by its cheesecloth defense. The Pats gave up a league-high 32 points per game and threw the Belichick-Brady dynasty into question before rebounding to become the league’s stingiest unit. Since Week 5, no team in the NFL has allowed fewer points than New England’s 14.0 per game. Brady’s team is 11-1 in that span
